Pharmacological properties

It is quickly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum concentration in blood plasma is observed after 1.5-2 hours. It is biologically transformed in the liver with the formation of inactive metabolites. The half-life is 3-4 hours, metabolites – about 16 hours. It is excreted from the body mainly by the kidneys (more than 95%) in the form of inactive metabolites the gastrointestinal tract (approximately 5%) and less than 0.2% in unchanged form.
The drug has a complex effect on the immune system, especially in immunosuppressive conditions: it increases the production of antibodies against various antigens, activates T-lymphocytes and stimulates their proliferation, increases the function of monocytes, macrophages and neutrophils (chemotaxis, phagocytosis, adhesion).
